FAQs
Same answers as in the app’s Shortcuts help: wallpaper refreshes, automation, and Lock Screen widgets.
Why did changing my Lock Screen wallpaper also change my Home Screen wallpaper?
This can happen the first time you run the Shortcut because iOS may apply the generated photo to both Lock Screen and Home Screen for that wallpaper pair. After that, you can set your Home Screen wallpaper back to what you want. Future runs will only update the specific Lock Screen wallpaper you selected inside the Shortcut and won’t keep changing your Home Screen.
If you see "Unable to Set Wallpaper Photo"
iOS may show: "Photos cannot be set on the selected wallpaper. Please select a different wallpaper." This happens when the current Lock Screen or Home Screen wallpaper does not allow setting a photo. Fix it like this:
- Open the Shortcuts app and go to "All Shortcuts".
- Find the "LockScreen Calendar Wallpaper" shortcut. Tap the three dots (⋯) in the top-right corner of that shortcut card to open it.
- Select a different Wallpaper: tap on "Wallpaper 1", then select a different wallpaper from the list.
Why do I need to run the Shortcut again after adding events/reminders?
Your wallpaper is just a photo generated at the time the Shortcut runs. iOS Shortcuts can’t automatically re-run every time your Calendar or Reminders change. To refresh the wallpaper, run the Shortcut again (or rely on your scheduled Automation, e.g. daily).
Does it drain my battery?
Not really. The wallpaper itself is just a static image. Battery impact mostly comes from how often the Shortcut runs. If you schedule it once a day (or only run it when needed), the impact is typically minimal.
Nothing changed after setup. What should I do?
Make sure you completed every step in the setup guide and that your automation is enabled. If needed, repeat the setup process once more.
My wallpaper didn’t update. Why?
Check that:
- The automation is turned on
- "Run Immediately" is selected
- Show Preview is turned off
- Low Power Mode wasn’t active at the trigger time
You can also run the shortcut manually to test it.
How do I add the app’s reminders list widget to my Lock Screen?
Use LockScreen Calendar’s Lock Screen widget, not Apple’s built-in Reminders app widget. On the Lock Screen, long-press → Customize → Lock Screen → tap a rectangular widget area → find LockScreen Calendar → add the Reminders widget, then choose which list to show (or Today). The first time, you may need to tap the widget to finish setup in the app and allow Reminders access when prompted.
Can the shortcut use a random photo from an album?
Yes. In Customize → Background, choose Album, pick an album, then each time the wallpaper shortcut runs the app picks a random image from that album for the background (if Photos access is allowed).
